Sleeping With My Hero

She works three jobs, she's a wife and a mom,
waiting tables at the bowling lanes.
She doesn't sleep enough, seldom makes a fuss,
it's a miracle she maintains.
While I'm looking' for a full time job,
her lovin' tells me everything'll be alright

So when we tuck in the kids, and turn out the lights,
I whisper soft and low.
"I'm sleeping with my hero"
The world is better when she holds me tight
Worries melt, and tears and fears take flight.
Sleeping with my hero tonight

When the mill left town, it took our 401 down
some Wall St. bank black hole
I'm tending bar part-time, and tips don't lie,
about hard times and hangin on.
Still her courage carries me all day,
She's a river of hope, when dreams run dry.

So when we turn off the tube, and tuck in for the night,
I whisper soft and low.
"I'm sleeping with my hero
The world is better when she holds me tight
Worries melt, and tears and fears take flight.
Sleeping with my hero tonight"

I lie awake, her hand on my chest, her soft breath in my ear;
and then she stirs, and whispers these words,
that bring me to tears…she says,

I'm sleeping with my-hero-to-night
heart to heart, with the-love of-my-life -- ohhh

I'm sleeping with my hero
our world is better when you hold me tight
worries melt and tears and fears take flight
sleeping with my hero tonight
